Very powerful statement with a LOT of feeling in it. Very clear message that the one in the middle is in pain. The bricks, rather than just a plain wall give it some impenetrable quality like they are really solidly separated. However, the "X's" in the eyes are a symbol of dead. Perhaps a " - - " would have been a better representation of indifference.
